Sandwood Transport A Success Story

Just like our video says, we actually got our start with the motivation of a previous employer!

Everyone knows that when you tell a woman she can’t do something, well, it goes a little something like this…

The girls were indeed told they wouldn’t make it in the industry.

This enhanced their drive to succeed.

After working together for several years, Lisa and Sandy decided to join forces and form this company as a solution to continue servicing existing customers through means of a reputable, dependable and cost effective channel.

In their eyes, the best approach was to form their own company. This was the only way to ensure the standards and principles they believed their customers and drivers deserved, were maintained.

The company was founded in July, 2005 by Sandy Cunningham and Lisa Wood, and being the creative (or not) individuals they are, the company name came to be.

Over the past several years, Lisa and Sandy have certainly had their share of concerns that every business encounters. Through rough economic times, receivables issues and every day growing pains, Sandy and Lisa have remained united in a quest to flourish.

By pulling together and being creative, they were able to persevere through the rough patches and excel, where others have “failed to deliver.” (pun intended!)

The company has gone through another growth stage of business as they have increased their fleet size, in addition to the growing brokerage division. They found that adding their expeditor truck to the fleet, has also added to their diversity.

Sandwood Transport, Inc. is owned and operated in rural Havelock, Ontario, Canada full-time by Lisa and Sandy.

We provide trucking and brokerage services throughout North America for our customers by way of highway trucks.

We are a unique enterprise as we are a wholly owned female company.
